Photo Album 29 - Hurghada

A drawing in one of the many tomes of minutes I have digitally archived for the Synod of the Nile. Apparently the clerk got bored with keeping track of financial details.

More beautiful Arabic script. Can't get enough of it.

Teri and I recently visited the art studio at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral to order some icons. A few artists were there painting as we watched.

The Coptic Orthodox Cathedral. This is like the Vatican to the Coptic Orthodox Christians. In fact, it's where the pope lives.

The rows of seats on the bus to Hurghada were so close together we were literally spilling out into the aisle. Too bad it was an eight hour ride. It was tighter than an airplane ride.

Our beach in Hurghada.

Someone, weeks before we arrived, had scuttled their yacht on some shallow reef. Oops.

Sarah and Jay went snorkeling in the shallow reef beside out glass-bottomed boat.

The sunken yacht again.

Me on the topside of our boat.

Our hotel was the "Eiffel Hotel," but they just couldn't seem to get the spelling right. Various spellings all throughout the hotel were all different from one another. What was most humourous was the Egyptian pronunciation "Evil Hotel."

Me in the Red Sea.

Stephen and Jay played some great songs to help us relax.

Teri and Sarah hanging out in a local café.

An oil tanker in the Red Sea.

I saw this sign in Luxor. Those of you who have seen the musical "Sweeny Todd" will get the humor.

Where else in the world will you see government street signs that say "Allah Akbar" (God is Greatest)?
